Common Scams to Avoid
Unofficial porters inside the baggage-claim area grab luggage from the belt and insist on wheeling it to the taxi rank, then demand an inflated fee. Keep your bags in sight and politely refuse assistance unless you see an official airport badge.
Taxi dispatchers outside the terminal may quote a flat 'tourist rate' that is double or triple the metered fare. Insist on using the official airport taxi counter inside the arrivals hall or book through the ride-hailing apps that operate at Baku Airport.
Currency-exchange kiosks in the arrivals zone sometimes advertise a 'no-commission' rate but apply a hidden spread that is far worse than city-center banks. Change only a small amount for immediate needs and compare the mid-market rate on your phone before accepting.
